It is said also that in the early twentieth century two schools of Hegelian philosophy faced each other: the right-Hegelians in the guise of the fascists, and the left-Hegelians in the guise of the Marxists and communists. There is something to this, but to imply that Hegel is to blame for both would be an indictment too far. Yet the contrast does precipitate thought.
