Each contribution addresses some foundational issues in the growing, and so far epistemologically underexplored, field of molecular medicine. To focus philosophers' attention on such a field of biomedical inquiry is a valuable goal in itself, and a merit of this book. But this volume is especially valuable because, as the editors, Giovanni Boniolo and Marco J. Nathan, affirm in the Introduction, it represents an example of how philosophers of science are contributing to the theoretical development of scientific disciplines.
