Reviewed by Bastian Ronge, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin The Tanner Lectures on Human Values are a well-known academic event with a great reputation, regularly presented at certain universities across the United States. In April 2014 Eric L. Santner presented his Tanner Lectures at the University of California, Berkeley. According to custom, the lectures were afterwards revised for publication and supplemented by an introduction (by the editor, Kevin Goodman) and by the official comments of Bonnie Honig, Peter E. Gordon and Hent de Vries and Santner's responses. The book is neither a monograph nor an anthology.
