Reviewed by Craig French, University of Cambridge This is a brilliant book. It has a number of articles on a wide range of topics in the philosophy of perception. These articles provide overviews of the topics they treat, and many involve original contributions too. It is thus both informative and stimulating. The book has a substantive introduction by the editor followed by no less than 45 chapters, chunked into seven parts. It has both a name index and a subject index. Part I Historical Background Chapter 1 is "Perception in Ancient Greek Philosophy" by Victor Caston -- a thorough discussion of treatments of perception by the presocratics, Plato, and Aristotle. A similarly impressive discussion, but of a different period, comes in Chapter 2 "Perception in Medieval. . .
