Though it is useful to consider the varieties of naturalism, the present volume instead examines a specific issue: does Darwin's conceptual/empirical revolution eliminate teleology and intentionality, or does it explain teleology and intentionality? How, too, should we think about the continuity and discontinuity between living and non-living things, and between sapient animals -- paradigmatically, normal mature human beings -- and non-sapient animals?
